Philodendron davidsei

Scandent herb. Stem elongate, 0.9 cm in diam., internodes 5 cm long minimum, naked. LEAVES: Petiole more or less slender 33.5037 cm long, sheathed part 4.3-5 cm long. Geniculum apparently 3.2 cm long. Leaf blade on an upright petiole, papery, flat, ovate in outline, 43-45.5 cm long, 20.5-22.5 cm wide (11-13 cm at the point of petiole insertion), subcordate at the base, lobes rounded, unequal, separated by a triangular sinus barely 1.0-1.5 cm deep. More or less obtuse towards the apex, the apex itself narrowly acuminate (1.5-2 cm). Adaxially glossy, dark green, midrib well marked, from which primary lateral veins are produced at an angle of (70º-) 75º. These are slightly sulcate, ca. 10 on each side. Minor veins are sub-parallel. INFLORESCENCES solitary. Peduncle slender, 4.8 cm long. Spathe more or less slender, 9 cm long, the same diameter throughout, carmine externally (?). Spadix somewhat shorter than the spathe, slender, naked at the extreme base for 0.2 cm, female zone 2.9 cm long, sterile male zone ca. 1.5 cm long, fertile male zone 3.5 cm long. Pistillate flowers: ovary 6-locular, locules 3-4 ovulate, ovules affixed centrally towards the base. Staminate flowers (from base to apex of spadix) apparently 4-3-2-androus.
