Anthurium cupreum

Stem erect, up to 1.3 m tall, internodes short. Cataphylls up to 15 cm long, thick, becoming reddish. LEAVES: Petiole 35-40 cm long, 6 mm thick. Blade ca. 25 cm long, 15 cm wide, with acumen 2 cm long, coriaceous, obscurely green, outline subtriangular, posterior lobes extrorse, ca. 4 cm long, obtuse, separated by a broad rounded sinus; anterior lobe elongate-triangular, long and acutely acuminate, basal veins 5, the uppermost subparallel to the interlobe and midrib veins, the next highest spreading, soon curving upwards and running out into the margin, the remaining three very shortly or not fused together proximally, at first retrorse, then turning upwards, midrib primary lateral veins 6 on each side, ascending at an acute angle and joining with the interlobe vein into a collective vein distant from the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle equalling the petiole. Spathe lanceolate, ca. 10 cm long, at the base very shortly decurrent, copper coloured. Spadix sessile, equalling spathe, brown, 6-7 mm thick when in flower. Tepals 1.5 mm long, 2 mm wide. Stamens broadly spathulate, anthers 3.5 times shorter than the filaments, filaments 2 mm long, brown upwards, thecae ovate. Ovary subovoid, conically narrowed into a short, style 2 mm long, below pale and with fine linear brown marking, above brown. Ovules equalling ca. one third of the length of the locule, attached below the apex of the locule. INFRUCTESCENCE unseen.
