Description Small tree or shrub, 4 ‒ 10 (15) m high. Branches terete, pubescent when young, glabrescent. Leaves petiolate, petiole ca 1.9 cm long, pubescent when young, glabrescent. Lamina ca 9.4 × 3.8 cm, oblong to ovate, base rounded or cuneate, oblique, apex acute or acuminate, margin crenate to serrulate, blade pubescent when young then glabrescent, or glabrous. Inflorescence corymbose, with 4 ‒ 5 flowers. Pedicel ca 1.5 ‒ 3.0 cm long, puberulous. Hypanthium puberulous. Sepals lanceolate, abaxially puberulous, adaxially densely crinite, persistent. Petals yellowish-white, ovate. Stamens ca 30, unequal. Styles 5, pubescent at base. Pome ca 2.5 ‒ 5.5 cm in diameter, subglobose, yellow to red. Carpopodium ca 2.3 cm long, puberulous or glabrous.
