Eugenia farameoides

Eugenia farameoides is distributed in the Southeast and Gulf of Mexico region, in the states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas, Central American countries and in Cuba (WCSP 2020). The species can be found from sea level up to 400 m elev. in the Humid Tropical Forest biome, as well as in areas of coastal vegetation in floodable soils. Seven collection records were found in Mexico, located mainly in remnants of tropical rainforests and a biodiversity reserve “ Los Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve ” in Chiapas (INE-SEMARNAP 2000 a). The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. The area of occupancy (AOO) would likely exceed the thresholds of any threatened category when the remaining habitat available is taken in account, due to unbalanced surveys in its entire range. There are more than 10 known locations based on 57 records, mainly in areas of tropical rainforest in the Mesoamerican region, which include countries from Mexico to Costa Rica. Eugenia farameoides is classified here as Least Concern (LC).
